Starlets have booked their place in the last four of Cecafa event after they walked past Burundi in Jinja on Tuesday
Kenya started the campaign well defeating hosts Uganda 4-0 with Burundi hammering Zanzibar 10-1. David Ouma charges started well, pinning their counterparts in their own half, with Neddy Atieno, team captain Mary Kinuthia and Esse Akida missing glorious chances to put the side ahead.
Defensive lapse saw Kenya almost fall behind in the fourteenth minute, as Aziza Misigyimana found himself with goalkeeper Vivian Akinyi to beat, but she failed to hit the target.
HALF-TIME Scoreline
Starlets goal came in the 29th minute courtesy of Neddy Atieno, who tapped in a well placed pass, after a series of attempts. In the 32nd minute, the advantage was doubled by the team when Mary Kinuthia added the second from a long range effort that beat goalkeeper Belida Ndorarho.
Kenya continued attacking, and on the stroke of half-time Esse Akida made it 3-0, her third goal of the regional tournament. The David Ouma coached side were undone yet as stylish Neddy Atieno completed the route ensuring that they book their place in the semis. Coach Ouma was happy with the outcome of the match and promised more from the side.
"That was the kind of performance I had demanded from my girls and they have delivered a good result. Remember we were playing against a team that beat Zanzibar 10-1 in the opener. It was a tough game but I don't want this result to get into the team. We must remain focused as we have the semis coming up."
